Marc Jones is an English teacher at universities in the Tokyo area specializing in listening, pronunciation and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT). He also teaches at companies, producing corpora and materials to support the teaching of his own clients and those of SLB. He has over fifteen years’ teaching experience, the majority in teaching English to speakers of other languages.

Marc holds the London Trinity College Licentiate Diploma in TESOL and an MA Applied Linguistics and TESOL from University of Portsmouth. He is currently researching the instructed acquisition of phonology in his Master of Research in Applied Linguistics with University of Portsmouth.

He has presented at conferences about lack of theory in language teaching, the teaching of listening, and the use of role-playing games in the language classroom. He has written articles on Task-Based Language Teaching in Japan, simple classroom research for teachers, and teacher beliefs about listening and pronunciation. He also contributes to the ELT Research Bites website.
